The 44th Festival della Valle d’Itria opens with Vaccaj’s Giulietta e Romeo

[ Din categoria News ] [ Data articol: 2018-07-12 ] [ Din localitatea Valle D`Itria ] [ Tara Italia ]   Belcanto inaugurates the 44th edition of the Festival della Valle d’Itria, with Nicola Vaccaj’s Giulietta e Romeo on the stage of Martina Franca’s Palazzo Ducale, Friday the 13 July (with repeats on the 15 and 31 July). A true gem of 1825 belcanto repertoire, our version of Giulietta e Romeo is based on Ilaria Narici’s critical edition, published by Ricordi. Conductor Sesto Quatrini conducts the Orchestra dell’Accademia Teatro alla Scala and the Choir of the Teatro Municipale of Piacenza. Sesto returns to the podium of our Festival after last year’s Un giorno di regno by Verdi. Direction is by Cecilia Ligorio, another talent who in 2016 curated the staging of the first performance in modern times of Steffani’s Baccanali. In the cast are soprano Leonor Bonilla (Giulietta), mezzosoprano Raffaella Lupinacci (Romeo), tenor Leonardo Cortellazzi (Capellio), soprano Paoletta Marrocu (Adele), and baritones Vasa Stajkic (Tebaldo) and Christian Senn (Lorenzo). Scenes, costumes, and lights are respectively by Alessia Colosso, Giuseppe Palella, and Luciano Novelli. The repeat of the 31 July will be broadcast live on Radio 3 Rai.
